Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Seahawks spent slot 155 on Donovan Smith, a name the board had a full 76 spots lower. The math is unkind, and the D follows.

The Smith value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. Whatever Jaxson Dart becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer.

That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.

Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.
