Draft Grade — Bills
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Bills a B.

For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Bills walked out of the weekend still thin at linebacker, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons.

That is an interior defensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They are betting West proves the room right and everyone else wrong.

Interior defensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Good work on the whole, with linebacker the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Nick Emmanwori
In the 30th overall pick they get a centerfielder for the defense, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick35 Rnd2 Walter Nolen
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Walter Nolen in No. 35. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick62 Rnd2 Tre Harris
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tre Harris. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick143 Rnd5 O'Donnell Fortune
The board had cheaper options than O'Donnell Fortune at pick 143, and it noticed. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick170 Rnd5 Quincy Riley
Quincy Riley at the 170th pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick173 Rnd5 CJ West
They went early on CJ West in the Round 5 slot, and the value did not follow. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick177 Rnd6 DJ Giddens
DJ Giddens in Round 6, Pick 1 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick206 Rnd6 Oronde Gadsden II
Oronde Gadsden II at slot 206 is money in the bank, a tight end taken below his worth. The roster fit checks out.
Pick222 Rnd7 Robert Longerbeam
Robert Longerbeam at pick 222 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
