A franchise passer in Sanders headlines a D weekend for the Browns.

You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Browns did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high. The math is unkind, and the D follows.

Shedeur Sanders is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The cost of the Thornton Jr. reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

On value alone, Giddens makes the weekend a net positive.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, tight end very much included.
