Draft Grade — Bears
Overall
C

FutureA+
The Bears got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the C. Somebody took the Bears to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. It nets out a thoroughly average C.
Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Mondon Jr. steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
The Davis reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
If Olumuyiwa Fashanu and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick Analysis
Pick6
Rnd1
Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In Round 1, Pick 6 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. A real need, handled.
Pick13
Rnd1
Xavier Legette
In pick 13 they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick47
Rnd2
Troy Franklin
Nice patience on Troy Franklin, who had no business lasting to the Round 2 slot. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick66
Rnd3
Jackson Powers-Johnson
A reach for Jackson Powers-Johnson in pick No. 66; a little patience would have been rewarded. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick69
Rnd3
Mekhi Wingo
They took Mekhi Wingo at par in the 69th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick105
Rnd4
Cam Hart
Cam Hart in slot 105 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick128
Rnd4
Tykee Smith
No edge and no loss on Tykee Smith in the 128th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick142
Rnd5
Smael Mondon Jr.
They let Smael Mondon Jr. come to them and pounced at No. 142. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick183
Rnd6
Jasheen Davis
Jasheen Davis at pick 183 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick226
Rnd7
Kaimon Rucker
Kaimon Rucker at the 226th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the edge rusher. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
