Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesC FutureB-
The 49ers cashed the board's mistake on Sanders: B-.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Raheim Sanders tumbling to the 49ers in pick 226 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.

For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Ivey pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The roster is better shaped than it was, with offensive lineman chief among the fixes.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Malaki Starks
In Round 1, Pick 30 they get a two-high chess piece at a price that makes it sweeter. Need was not the driver here.
Pick43 Rnd2 Tyler Booker
They did well to land Tyler Booker in slot 43, just ahead of his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick56 Rnd2 Armand Membou
They liked Armand Membou enough to skip the value, taking him in the Round 2 slot. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick62 Rnd2 Jared Ivey
They jumped the gun on Jared Ivey, taking him earlier than his grade liked. The roster fit checks out.
Pick75 Rnd3 Darien Porter
Darien Porter at pick 75 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick111 Rnd4 Savion Williams
By-the-book stuff, Savion Williams at No. 111 squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick137 Rnd4 Barrett Carter
You do not let a linebacker like Barrett Carter reach the 137th pick and blink. They did not. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick139 Rnd5 DeMonte Capehart
They went early on DeMonte Capehart in the 139th overall pick, and the value did not follow. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick226 Rnd7 Raheim Sanders
Circle this one: Raheim Sanders at No. 226 is a fall that decides a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick255 Rnd7 Jared Wilson
A offensive lineman of that caliber at the Round 7 slot is the definition of value, full stop. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
