The Panthers got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D.

The Panthers did not so much draft Rasheen Ali as overpay for him, 67 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through safety.

Landing Ford that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The veteran additions, Darnell Wright chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, safety very much included.
