A franchise passer in McCarthy headlines a D- weekend for the Broncos.

Somebody took the Broncos to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. It grades a D-, and the process earned it.

They have staked the next five years on J.J. McCarthy, which is the only story that really matters here. The cost of the Johnson reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

On value alone, McKinstry makes the weekend a net positive.

In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.
