The Broncos answered their biggest question with Nix. Grade: D-.

The Broncos lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again.

The whole projection now runs through Bo Nix; hit there and everything else looks smarter. The cost of the Capehart reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

The linebacker hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They banked enough surplus on McCoy to cover a lot of smaller sins.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, linebacker very much included.

In slot 14 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare. Exactly the need they had to hit.

In pick 17 they get a long-term answer under center at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.

Jermaine Burton at the 56th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.

Byron Murphy II at Round 3, Pick 14 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.

Cam Hart in pick No. 114 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
