The Lions cashed the board's mistake on West: B-.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Lions were there to profit. CJ West, the No. 217 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick 246. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.

That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The cost of the Simpkins III reach is exactly the players who went right after him. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
