Draft Grade — Bears
Overall A-
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureA+
Quarterback settled, Maye in the fold, and a A- for the Bears.

The search is over. The Bears handed the keys to Drake Maye, and the whole operation now runs on his development.

They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

The Mahogany value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. The Bears clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.

Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Drake Maye and all.

Pick Analysis
Pick7 Rnd1 Drake Maye
A straight-up fair deal on Drake Maye at Round 1, Pick 7, value and slot in agreement. The roster fit checks out.
Pick9 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
Rome Odunze at the 9th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick38 Rnd2 Ennis Rakestraw Jr.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Ennis Rakestraw Jr. in pick 38. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick40 Rnd2 Tyler Nubin
They took Tyler Nubin at par in No. 40, which is nothing to complain about. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick67 Rnd3 Kiran Amegadjie
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kiran Amegadjie. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick75 Rnd3 Ruke Orhorhoro
Ruke Orhorhoro at slot 75 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick78 Rnd3 Marshawn Kneeland
By-the-book stuff, Marshawn Kneeland at the Round 3 slot squarely in line with his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick106 Rnd4 Christian Mahogany
They read the board right and Christian Mahogany was the payoff at pick No. 106. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick122 Rnd4 Theo Johnson
Theo Johnson in No. 122 is fair value, right on his grade. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
