The board owed the Commanders one, and it paid up: Jared Wilson, the No. 109 name on the board, sitting there at Round 7, Pick 20 like a gift left on the doorstep.

They will need McCoy to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The phones were where this weekend was really won. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Adding DK Metcalf by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
