Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall
B+
ValueB+

TradesA
FutureB-
The Seahawks won the night they stopped Paul Jr. from sliding. Grade: B+. You build a draft on nights like this. Chris Paul Jr. had no business being available in the 210th overall pick, and the Seahawks did the only sane thing and turned in the card. Good, not great, and the B+ says as much.
The Howard reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick Analysis
Pick32
Rnd1
Tyler Booker
In the 32nd pick they get protection for the quarterback. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick50
Rnd2
Harold Fannin Jr.
A quiet steal in No. 50: Harold Fannin Jr. for less than the market said. It fills a real need, too.
Pick56
Rnd2
Jihaad Campbell
Somehow Jihaad Campbell was still sitting there in slot 56, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick85
Rnd3
Will Howard
Will Howard at Round 3, Pick 21 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick96
Rnd3
Jake Majors
A tidy little value on Jake Majors in the Round 3 slot, a step better than break-even. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick98
Rnd3
Hollin Pierce
A premium they did not need to pay, Hollin Pierce a notch or two before his time. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick114
Rnd4
Tez Johnson
Steal is underselling it; Tez Johnson at pick 114 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick120
Rnd4
TreVeyon Henderson
They will replay TreVeyon Henderson at pick No. 120 for years; that is how good the value is. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick133
Rnd4
Sebastian Castro
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Sebastian Castro in pick 133, plain and simple. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick136
Rnd4
Mason Taylor
Taking Mason Taylor in the Round 4 slot is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick171
Rnd5
Kyren Lacy
Kyren Lacy at Round 5, Pick 34 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick183
Rnd6
Tonka Hemingway
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Tonka Hemingway. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick210
Rnd6
Chris Paul Jr.
You do not let a linebacker like Chris Paul Jr. reach the 210th pick and blink. They did not. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick234
Rnd7
Terrance Ferguson
Terrance Ferguson in No. 234 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
