Quarterback settled, Williams in the fold, and a D for the Bears.

The Bears looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Christian Mahogany at No. 68 regardless, 32 picks early. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D is the result.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. Caleb Williams gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits.

The Bears indulged a want in Smith while a need in linebacker stayed open. The linebacker hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

However the rest shakes out, Johnson at that price is a win they earned.

In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.

They paid sticker price for Zach Frazier in the 51st overall pick, and that is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.

Christian Mahogany at pick 68 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
