Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Steelers cashed the board's mistake on Allar: B.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Steelers watched Drew Allar slide 68 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Halton has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Makai Lemon
In pick 25 they get a weapon on the perimeter, outstanding value to boot.
Pick58 Rnd2 Ty Simpson
Ty Simpson at Round 2, Pick 26 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick79 Rnd3 Deontae Lawson
They did well to land Deontae Lawson in the 79th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick89 Rnd3 Austin Barber
Austin Barber in the Round 3 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick99 Rnd3 Rod Moore
Rod Moore at slot 99 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick126 Rnd4 DJ McKinney
Nice patience on DJ McKinney, who had no business lasting to No. 126. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick134 Rnd4 Jadarian Price
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jadarian Price at pick No. 134 is the proof. The roster fit checks out.
Pick164 Rnd5 Gracen Halton
They jumped the gun on Gracen Halton, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick172 Rnd5 Drew Allar
Somehow Drew Allar was still sitting there in slot 172, and they pounced on premier quarterback value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick209 Rnd6 CJ Daniels
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, CJ Daniels in No. 209, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick217 Rnd6 Roderick Kearney
No drama and no debate, Roderick Kearney went about where he belonged in the Round 6 slot. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick243 Rnd7 Conner Weigman
They robbed the room for Conner Weigman here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
