The Bears did not so much draft Sam Hartman as overpay for him, 41 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend.

Landing Ewers that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.

With interior defensive lineman unsolved, spending premium capital on safety is the choice that costs them.

In short, they turned a good board into a better roster, and it shows.
