Draft Grade — Saints

FutureD
Larceny in the 230th pick lands the Saints a D-, Wiley and all. Somebody took the Saints to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D- is the result.
The Stover pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at quarterback and interior defensive lineman. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Wiley. Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Joe Alt
In the Round 1 slot they get an anchor for the offensive line, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick29
Rnd1
Terrion Arnold
Terrion Arnold in No. 29 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick32
Rnd1
Tyler Guyton
In pick 32 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick45
Rnd2
Malachi Corley
Malachi Corley at Round 2, Pick 13 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick61
Rnd2
Chris Braswell
Chris Braswell at pick No. 61 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick64
Rnd2
Jordan Morgan
Circle this one: Jordan Morgan at the 64th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick92
Rnd3
Cade Stover
A want over a need in the 92nd pick: Cade Stover adds a TE-EDGE while quarterback and interior defensive lineman keeps waiting.
Pick149
Rnd5
Nelson Ceaser
They did well to land Nelson Ceaser in Round 5, Pick 13, just ahead of his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick192
Rnd6
Isaac Guerendo
Isaac Guerendo at No. 192 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick230
Rnd7
Jared Wiley
They barely believed it either: Jared Wiley still on the board at the 230th overall pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
