Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall C+
ValueB NeedB TradesD FutureB-
The Vikings bled value on every deal, hence the C+.

Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Vikings spent Round 7, Pick 15 on Quinn Carroll, a name most had 44 spots down the list.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. The Majors steal is the beam this whole class leans on.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes.

If Malaki Starks and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.

Pick Analysis
Pick42 Rnd2 Malaki Starks
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Malaki Starks at Round 2, Pick 10 is the proof. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick76 Rnd3 Quinshon Judkins
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 76, where Quinshon Judkins graded well above the range. The roster fit checks out.
Pick97 Rnd3 Jaylin Noel
No drama and no debate, Jaylin Noel went about where he belonged in No. 97. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick116 Rnd4 Terrance Ferguson
Terrance Ferguson at slot 116 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick123 Rnd4 Jake Majors
Jake Majors in the Round 4 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick139 Rnd5 Darius Alexander
Darius Alexander at pick 139 is money in the bank, a interior defensive lineman taken below his worth. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick180 Rnd6 Jack Kiser
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jack Kiser in pick No. 180. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick182 Rnd6 Quincy Riley
Quincy Riley slipping to No. 182 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick187 Rnd6 Nohl Williams
Nohl Williams in Round 6, Pick 11 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick204 Rnd6 Cam Jackson
Cam Jackson in the 204th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick221 Rnd7 Marcus Yarns
This one needs a full-page explanation: Marcus Yarns in the Round 7 slot, miles early. It fills a real need, too.
Pick229 Rnd7 Brady Cook
Value said wait; Brady Cook in slot 229 says they were not listening. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick231 Rnd7 Quinn Carroll
Quinn Carroll at pick 231 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
