Draft Grade — Packers
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Packers kept it disciplined and banked a B-.

They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Dylan McMahon, 74 picks early at Round 6, Pick 44.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. With edge rusher, quarterback and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on safety is the choice that costs them. Landing Johnson that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.

Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Quinyon Mitchell
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a press-man option on the boundary. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick41 Rnd2 Edgerrin Cooper
By-the-book stuff, Edgerrin Cooper at the 41st pick squarely in line with his ranking. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick58 Rnd2 Kingsley Suamataia
Kingsley Suamataia at slot 58 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick88 Rnd3 McKinnley Jackson
They talked themselves into McKinnley Jackson at the 88th overall pick, and the board did not agree. It fills a real need, too.
Pick91 Rnd3 Dadrion Taylor-Demerson
A tidy little value on Dadrion Taylor-Demerson in No. 91, a step better than break-even. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick126 Rnd4 Beau Brade
They bypassed pressing needs at edge rusher, quarterback and other spots to take Beau Brade, a safety that was not the priority.
Pick169 Rnd5 Jaylan Ford
Jaylan Ford at the 169th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick202 Rnd6 Cornelius Johnson
Value with a capital V on Cornelius Johnson in slot 202, a genuine coup. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick219 Rnd6 Dylan McMahon
They reached a country mile for Dylan McMahon at pick No. 219, and the board is aghast. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick245 Rnd7 Rasheen Ali
The board had cheaper options than Rasheen Ali at pick 245, and it noticed. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick255 Rnd7 LaDarius Henderson
No drama and no debate, LaDarius Henderson went about where he belonged in the Round 7 slot. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
