Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall B-
ValueC NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
Good, not great, for the Ravens: B-.

If confidence were a draft strategy, the Ravens would have aced it. Julien Simon at pick No. 240 is 225 spots clear of where he belonged. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.

The Judkins steal is the beam this whole class leans on. A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want.

Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick24 Rnd1 Abdul Carter
In the 24th overall pick they get a disruptor off the edge, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick55 Rnd2 Aireontae Ersery
They talked themselves into Aireontae Ersery at the Round 2 slot, and the board did not agree. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick86 Rnd3 Jack Sawyer
Circle this one: Jack Sawyer at No. 86 is a fall that decides a draft. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick125 Rnd4 Howard Cross III
Taking Howard Cross III in Round 4, Pick 24 is close to grand larceny; an interior defensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick135 Rnd4 Quincy Riley
This one needs a full-page explanation: Quincy Riley in the 135th pick, miles early. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick174 Rnd5 Connor Colby
A tidy bit of business in pick 174, where Connor Colby graded well above the range. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick176 Rnd6 Quinshon Judkins
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Quinshon Judkins in slot 176, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick182 Rnd6 Mykel Williams
Steal is underselling it; Mykel Williams at the 182nd overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick198 Rnd6 Jalen Rivers
Jalen Rivers at Round 6, Pick 23 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick221 Rnd7 Thor Griffith
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Thor Griffith well ahead of where he belonged. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick230 Rnd7 Francisco Mauigoa
Value said wait; Francisco Mauigoa in pick No. 230 says they were not listening. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick240 Rnd7 Julien Simon
They reached a country mile for Julien Simon at the Round 7 slot, and the board is aghast. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
