Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B for the Steelers.

Somebody in Round 3, Pick 19 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Steelers sat still while TreVeyon Henderson, the No. 53 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.

They are betting Milroe proves the room right and everyone else wrong. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.

On the needs board they went 5 of 9, with quarterback the one that mattered most. They trusted the board more than the depth chart.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Kenneth Grant
In Round 1, Pick 31 they get an anchor for the defensive front, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick63 Rnd2 Jalen Milroe
They talked themselves into Jalen Milroe at No. 63, and the board did not agree. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick83 Rnd3 TreVeyon Henderson
A running back of that caliber at Round 3, Pick 19 is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick123 Rnd4 Hollin Pierce
Hollin Pierce in the 123rd pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick156 Rnd5 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Dont'e Thornton Jr.. The roster fit checks out.
Pick185 Rnd6 JJ Pegues
JJ Pegues in pick 185 is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick229 Rnd7 Maxen Hook
Maxen Hook slid further than he should have, and pick No. 229 is lovely value for the safety. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
