Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D+
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureC+
A passer of the future in Williams, and a D+, for the Bears.

The Bears put a flag in the ground for Maason Smith, 37 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D+.

Caleb Williams is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, running back very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In No. 1 they get the arm they will build around at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick17 Rnd1 Chop Robinson
In the 17th pick they get a double-digit-sack hope. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick37 Rnd2 Jackson Powers-Johnson
Good price on Jackson Powers-Johnson in the 37th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It fills a real need, too.
Pick38 Rnd2 Jordan Morgan
They paid sticker price for Jordan Morgan in pick No. 38, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick44 Rnd2 Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe at slot 44 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick74 Rnd3 Maason Smith
Value said wait; Maason Smith in pick 74 says they were not listening. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick122 Rnd4 Luke McCaffrey
Luke McCaffrey at Round 4, Pick 22 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick223 Rnd7 Dominique Hampton
Dominique Hampton at pick 223 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It adds depth where they could use a little.
