The tape said wait; the Patriots did not. Aaron Lewis went at the Round 7 slot, a good 64 picks before the board was ready. A mixed bag that lands at C+.

Whatever Drake Maye becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. Landing Abrams-Draine that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Not a disaster, not a triumph, just a middling class.
