Draft Grade — Packers
Overall B-
ValueC NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
The Packers did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-.

If confidence were a draft strategy, the Packers would have aced it. Trajan Jeffcoat at No. 255 is 53 spots clear of where he belonged. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.

Colson at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Tyler Nubin
In pick No. 25 they get a ballhawk on the back end, reach and all. Need was not the driver here.
Pick41 Rnd2 Cooper Beebe
They paid sticker price for Cooper Beebe in No. 41, and that is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick58 Rnd2 Dominick Puni
A wild overpay on Dominick Puni in the 58th overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick88 Rnd3 Trey Benson
Trey Benson at Round 3, Pick 25 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick91 Rnd3 Junior Colson
You do not let a linebacker like Junior Colson reach the 91st pick and blink. They did not. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick126 Rnd4 Justin Eboigbe
Justin Eboigbe at pick 126 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick169 Rnd5 Dwight McGlothern
Dwight McGlothern at No. 169 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick202 Rnd6 Jordan Magee
Value said wait; Jordan Magee in pick No. 202 says they were not listening. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick219 Rnd6 Tahj Washington
Tahj Washington in pick 219 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It fills a real need, too.
Pick245 Rnd7 Trey Knox
Trey Knox at Round 7, Pick 25 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick255 Rnd7 Trajan Jeffcoat
Trajan Jeffcoat at the 255th overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
