Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall
D
ValueB-

FutureB-
The Seahawks robbed the room for Moore. Final grade: D. It is the swing that defines the weekend: Will Howard in Round 5, Pick 33, a good 59 spots before the room expected him. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D is the result.
Landing Moore that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.
Pick Analysis
Pick22
Rnd1
Josh Simmons
They went early on Josh Simmons in pick 22, and the value did not follow. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick49
Rnd2
Tyler Warren
A reach on Tyler Warren in slot 49; the board had better options right there. The roster fit checks out.
Pick76
Rnd3
Jake Majors
The board had Jake Majors higher than pick No. 76, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick84
Rnd3
Jalen Milroe
Circle this one: Jalen Milroe at the 84th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick107
Rnd4
T.J. Sanders
T.J. Sanders at the Round 4 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick112
Rnd4
Malachi Moore
You do not let a safety like Malachi Moore reach the 112th pick and blink. They did not. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick113
Rnd4
Smael Mondon Jr.
Smael Mondon Jr. in pick 113 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick114
Rnd4
TreVeyon Henderson
Taking TreVeyon Henderson in Round 4, Pick 13 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick136
Rnd4
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. at the 136th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick149
Rnd5
Willie Lampkin
A straight-up fair deal on Willie Lampkin at No. 149, value and slot in agreement. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick158
Rnd5
Theo Wease Jr.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Theo Wease Jr.. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick165
Rnd5
Benjamin Morrison
They talked themselves into Benjamin Morrison at slot 165, and the board did not agree. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick171
Rnd5
Will Howard
A wild overpay on Will Howard in slot 171, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
