Draft Grade — Seahawks

The Seahawks cashed the board's mistake on Fannin Jr.: D.

Somebody took the Seahawks to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it.

The cost of the Lundt reach is exactly the players who went right after him. That linebacker hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

Fannin Jr. at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, linebacker very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Will Johnson
In slot 14 they get a potential shutdown corner, outstanding value to boot. Need was not the driver here.
Pick18 Rnd1 Armand Membou
In Round 1, Pick 18 they get protection for the quarterback at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick50 Rnd2 Tyler Booker
A slide stopped in the 50th overall pick, with Tyler Booker worth more than the price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick52 Rnd2 Malaki Starks
A safety of that caliber at the Round 2 slot is the definition of value, full stop. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick82 Rnd3 Harold Fannin Jr.
You do not let a tight end like Harold Fannin Jr. reach pick 82 and blink. They did not. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick92 Rnd3 Savion Williams
They paid sticker price for Savion Williams in the 92nd pick, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick137 Rnd4 Jamaree Caldwell
Jamaree Caldwell at No. 137 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick138 Rnd4 Tyler Shough
Tyler Shough at slot 138 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick140 Rnd5 Chase Lundt
Value said wait; Chase Lundt in pick 140 says they were not listening. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick146 Rnd5 Ty Robinson
They left a pile of value on the table to take Ty Robinson this early at the 146th pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick163 Rnd5 Barryn Sorrell
Barryn Sorrell in pick No. 163 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick172 Rnd5 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
The board had cheaper options than Dont'e Thornton Jr. at the 172nd overall pick, and it noticed. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick230 Rnd7 Luke Lachey
Luke Lachey in the Round 7 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
