The Commanders cashed the board's mistake on Sanders: B. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Commanders were there to profit. Raheim Sanders, the No. 148 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick No. 205.
That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Hairston has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick29
Rnd1
Mykel Williams
In slot 29 they get a disruptor off the edge, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
Pick61
Rnd2
Maxwell Hairston
Maxwell Hairston at No. 61 is a conviction pick that outran the value. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick129
Rnd4
Emery Jones Jr.
A clean, defensible pick in pick 129 with a little surplus value in Emery Jones Jr.. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick205
Rnd6
Raheim Sanders
A running back of that caliber at the 205th pick is the definition of value, full stop. It fills a real need, too.
Pick210
Rnd6
Karene Reid
A slide stopped in pick No. 210, with Karene Reid worth more than the price. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick245
Rnd7
Torricelli Simpkins III
They took Torricelli Simpkins III at par in Round 7, Pick 29, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
