The Lions cashed the board's mistake on Johnson: B-. You could see the war room lean forward. Cornelius Johnson at the 207th pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
They will regret leaving safety for another day if the season turns on it. Trice has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick16
Rnd1
Cooper DeJean
In Round 1, Pick 16 they get a lockdown presence outside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick61
Rnd2
Bralen Trice
They paid up for Bralen Trice at pick 61 when waiting would have done the job. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick92
Rnd3
Marshawn Kneeland
No edge and no loss on Marshawn Kneeland in slot 92; it is a wash and a sensible one. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick106
Rnd4
Zak Zinter
Zak Zinter in No. 106 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick207
Rnd6
Cornelius Johnson
Cornelius Johnson in the 207th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick248
Rnd7
Keaton Bills
Keaton Bills in pick No. 248 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
