Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall B
ValueB NeedB- TradesB+ FutureA-
The Seahawks won the night they stopped Simon from sliding. Grade: B.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Seahawks were there to profit. Cody Simon, the No. 126 name on the board, should have been long gone before slot 172.

A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. The cost of the Williams reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick18 Rnd1 Nick Emmanwori
In the 18th pick they get a rangy last line of defense at fair value. More want than need.
Pick59 Rnd2 Marcus Mbow
The board had Marcus Mbow higher than the Round 2 slot, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick82 Rnd3 Isaiah Bond
Isaiah Bond in No. 82 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick89 Rnd3 Mason Taylor
Mason Taylor slipping to the 89th overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick92 Rnd3 Quinn Ewers
A straight-up fair deal on Quinn Ewers at pick 92, value and slot in agreement. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick129 Rnd4 Cobee Bryant
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 129, where Cobee Bryant graded well above the range. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick137 Rnd4 Jeffrey Bassa
Jeffrey Bassa at slot 137 is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick149 Rnd5 Emery Jones Jr.
They barely believed it either: Emery Jones Jr. still on the board at Round 5, Pick 11. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick172 Rnd5 Cody Simon
The board fumbled Cody Simon all the way to pick No. 172, and they scooped it up. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick175 Rnd5 Nick Nash
Nick Nash in the Round 5 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick176 Rnd5 Chase Lundt
Value with a capital V on Chase Lundt in Round 5, Pick 38, a genuine coup. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick204 Rnd6 Upton Stout
They will replay Upton Stout at No. 204 for years; that is how good the value is. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick223 Rnd7 Oronde Gadsden II
A top-tier tight end at a bargain, Oronde Gadsden II in the 223rd overall pick, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
Pick234 Rnd7 Jordan Hancock
Somehow Jordan Hancock was still sitting there in slot 234, and they pounced on premier safety value. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick241 Rnd7 John Williams
John Williams at the 241st pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
