The phones were a trap the Lions kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. A D that will need time and luck to look better.

That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. Every board in the league had Travis lower, and that gap is the story.

The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September. Job largely done: cornerback settled and 9 of 9 of the wish list covered.

In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.
