The Cowboys fleeced the room on the phones and earned a B+. The war room fell hard for Garrett Dellinger, and it showed at pick 247: 45 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. For all the activity, cornerback went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Ransom pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
The Jonathan Taylor deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
James Pearce Jr.
James Pearce Jr. in the 14th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick44
Rnd2
Tyleik Williams
Tyleik Williams in pick No. 44 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick76
Rnd3
Danny Stutsman
A premium they did not need to pay, Danny Stutsman a notch or two before his time. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick117
Rnd4
Lathan Ransom
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Lathan Ransom at No. 117. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick149
Rnd5
Damien Martinez
By-the-book stuff, Damien Martinez at pick 149 squarely in line with his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick171
Rnd5
Jaydon Blue
Jaydon Blue in the Round 5 slot is fair value, right on his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick174
Rnd5
Jaylen Reed
Jaylen Reed in the 174th overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick204
Rnd6
Caleb Rogers
A reasonable price with a little left over, Caleb Rogers in pick No. 204. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick211
Rnd6
Zeek Biggers
Value said wait; Zeek Biggers in the Round 6 slot says they were not listening. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick239
Rnd7
Roc Taylor
Roc Taylor at Round 7, Pick 23 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick247
Rnd7
Garrett Dellinger
A real head-scratcher, Garrett Dellinger in No. 247 is miles ahead of his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
