Draft Grade — Lions
Overall D-
ValueB NeedB+ TradesF FutureD
Larceny in slot 205 lands the Lions a D-, Torrence and all.

The phones were a trap the Lions kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. A D- that will need time and luck to look better.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through linebacker. The Torrence value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.

Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and linebacker is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick21 Rnd1 Dallas Turner
In the 21st pick they get juice off the edge at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick33 Rnd2 Ennis Rakestraw Jr.
No edge and no loss on Ennis Rakestraw Jr. in the 33rd overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick39 Rnd2 Xavier Legette
Xavier Legette in pick No. 39 is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick61 Rnd2 Kingsley Suamataia
Kingsley Suamataia in Round 2, Pick 29 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick73 Rnd3 Ja'Lynn Polk
Ja'Lynn Polk at pick 73 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick205 Rnd6 Ro Torrence
They robbed the room for Ro Torrence here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick246 Rnd7 Josh Proctor
Josh Proctor at the 246th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick249 Rnd7 Brevyn Spann-Ford
A straight-up fair deal on Brevyn Spann-Ford at pick 249, value and slot in agreement. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
