The steal of the weekend belongs to the Eagles and Whittington: A-. The rest of the league will want that one back. Jordan Whittington tumbling to the Eagles in Round 7, Pick 22 is a gift they did not have to think twice about.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. The Jacobs pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
Bottom line, they did the job about as well as it can be done.
Pick Analysis
Pick63
Rnd2
Byron Murphy II
Byron Murphy II at No. 63 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick66
Rnd3
Kamren Kinchens
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kamren Kinchens. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick94
Rnd3
Caelen Carson
Caelen Carson in the 94th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick97
Rnd3
Tory Horton
Tory Horton in Round 3, Pick 34 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick101
Rnd4
Christian Haynes
Christian Haynes in pick No. 101 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick121
Rnd4
Khyree Jackson
Khyree Jackson at pick 121 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick131
Rnd4
Tyler Guyton
They went early on Tyler Guyton in slot 131, and the value did not follow. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick137
Rnd5
Darius Robinson
They took Darius Robinson at par in the 137th pick, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick147
Rnd5
Antwaun Powell-Ryland
A reach on Antwaun Powell-Ryland in the 147th overall pick; the board had better options right there. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick178
Rnd6
Jestin Jacobs
A conviction pick on Jestin Jacobs at pick 178 that the board grades a round light. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick242
Rnd7
Jordan Whittington
The board fumbled Jordan Whittington all the way to the 242nd pick, and they scooped it up. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick253
Rnd7
Xavier Truss
They paid sticker price for Xavier Truss in Round 7, Pick 33, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
