Draft Grade — Seahawks

FutureD-
The Seahawks finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a F. The Seahawks clearly saw something nobody else did in Aaron Lewis, taking him 56 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.
The whole projection now runs through Bo Nix; hit there and everything else looks smarter. They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back.
Spending an early pick on DT-EDGE with running back open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.
In short, a weekend the front office will want to forget in a hurry.
Pick Analysis
Pick16
Rnd1
Jared Verse
In the Round 1 slot they get a problem off the edge at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick18
Rnd1
Bo Nix
In No. 18 they get the arm they will build around. A real need, handled.
Pick43
Rnd2
Xavier Legette
Xavier Legette at pick 43 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick44
Rnd2
Ja'Tavion Sanders
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Ja'Tavion Sanders. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick49
Rnd2
Calen Bullock
No drama and no debate, Calen Bullock went about where he belonged in Round 2, Pick 17. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick51
Rnd2
T'Vondre Sweat
They paid sticker price for T'Vondre Sweat in the 51st overall pick, and that is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick74
Rnd3
Christian Haynes
Christian Haynes at the 74th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick78
Rnd3
Maason Smith
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending No. 78 on Maason Smith with running back unsolved.
Pick84
Rnd3
Christian Mahogany
By-the-book stuff, Christian Mahogany at slot 84 squarely in line with his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick101
Rnd4
Marshawn Kneeland
Marshawn Kneeland at pick 101 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick114
Rnd4
Cade Stover
A want over a need in Round 4, Pick 14: Cade Stover adds a TE-EDGE while running back keeps waiting.
Pick123
Rnd4
Junior Colson
They read the board right and Junior Colson was the payoff at the Round 4 slot. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick154
Rnd5
Jordan Travis
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jordan Travis in the 154th pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick159
Rnd5
Malik Washington
They took Malik Washington at par in pick No. 159, which is nothing to complain about. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick160
Rnd5
Ben Sinnott
No edge and no loss on Ben Sinnott in the Round 5 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick194
Rnd6
Dwight McGlothern
Dwight McGlothern at Round 6, Pick 19 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick201
Rnd6
J.J. Weaver
J.J. Weaver at pick 201 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick216
Rnd6
Khordae Sydnor
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Khordae Sydnor. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick218
Rnd6
Jordan Toles
Jordan Toles at the 218th pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick236
Rnd7
Nathaniel Watson
Nathaniel Watson in pick No. 236 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick245
Rnd7
Aaron Lewis
Aaron Lewis in the 245th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
