The Eagles turned the phones into found money: B. The Eagles ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided. The bottom line is a respectable B.
The Eagles indulged a want in Solomon while a need in safety, quarterback and other spots stayed open. They will need Zinter to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. For all the activity, safety went untouched, which is hard to explain.
The Hall Jr. pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick22
Rnd1
Cooper DeJean
In the Round 1 slot they get a ballhawk on the outside. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick50
Rnd2
Edgerrin Cooper
They took Edgerrin Cooper at par in pick 50, which is nothing to complain about. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick59
Rnd2
Blake Fisher
They went early on Blake Fisher in No. 59, and the value did not follow. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick81
Rnd3
Devontez Walker
Devontez Walker in the 81st overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick86
Rnd3
Michael Hall Jr.
Michael Hall Jr. in the 86th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick90
Rnd3
Zak Zinter
They left a pile of value on the table to take Zak Zinter this early at pick No. 90. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick102
Rnd4
Javon Solomon
They bypassed pressing needs at safety, quarterback and other spots to take Javon Solomon, an OLB-EDGE that was not the priority.
Pick120
Rnd4
Javon Foster
They liked Javon Foster enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 120. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick161
Rnd5
James Williams
James Williams at slot 161 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick171
Rnd5
Nelson Ceaser
A reach for Nelson Ceaser in the Round 5 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick172
Rnd5
Fabien Lovett
They jumped the gun on Fabien Lovett, taking him earlier than his grade liked. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick210
Rnd6
Cody Schrader
A straight-up fair deal on Cody Schrader at the 210th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
