Draft Grade — Eagles
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB TradesA FutureB-
The Eagles robbed the room for Rice. Final grade: B.

The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Brenden Rice, the 137th pick, roughly 54 picks past where he belonged. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.

The Gray pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The Melton pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at edge rusher, interior defensive lineman and other spots. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick Analysis
Pick44 Rnd2 Johnny Wilson
A slide stopped in No. 44, with Johnny Wilson worth more than the price. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick59 Rnd2 Patrick Paul
Value with a capital V on Patrick Paul in pick 59, a genuine coup. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick64 Rnd2 Jordan Travis
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jordan Travis well ahead of where he belonged. It fills a real need, too.
Pick69 Rnd3 Max Melton
They bypassed pressing needs at edge rusher, interior defensive lineman and other spots to take Max Melton, a defensive back that was not the priority.
Pick76 Rnd3 TreVeyon Henderson
By-the-book stuff, TreVeyon Henderson at pick No. 76 squarely in line with his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick97 Rnd3 Cedric Gray
Cedric Gray in the 97th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick98 Rnd3 Blake Fisher
Blake Fisher at slot 98 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick99 Rnd3 James Williams
A straight-up fair deal on James Williams at Round 3, Pick 36, value and slot in agreement. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick137 Rnd5 Brenden Rice
A wide receiver of that caliber at the 137th pick is the definition of value, full stop. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick149 Rnd5 Tyler Guyton
They let Tyler Guyton come to them and pounced at No. 149. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick178 Rnd6 Cam Hart
Cam Hart in pick No. 178 is fair value, right on his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
