Draft Grade — Broncos
Overall A-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesA+ FutureA+
The Broncos won the weekend at the trade table. Grade: A-.

They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Jalen Thompson, 55 picks early at slot 174.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Awls. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend.

A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. They left with linebacker solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Bottom line, with Iapani Laloulu leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.

Pick Analysis
Pick107 Rnd4 Iapani Laloulu
Iapani Laloulu in slot 107 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick148 Rnd5 Walker Lyons
Walker Lyons at Round 5, Pick 11 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick159 Rnd5 Myles Graham
Steal is underselling it; Myles Graham at No. 159 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick174 Rnd5 Jalen Thompson
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jalen Thompson. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick223 Rnd7 Braden Awls
Braden Awls in the 223rd pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick226 Rnd7 Tre'Quon Fegans
Tre'Quon Fegans in the Round 7 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The roster reasoning here is anyone's guess.
Pick227 Rnd7 Edwin Spillman
A tidy little value on Edwin Spillman in No. 227, a step better than break-even. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick241 Rnd7 Maraad Watson
They paid up for Maraad Watson at the 241st overall pick when waiting would have done the job. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick244 Rnd7 Mark Nabou Jr.
They liked Mark Nabou Jr. enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 244. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
