Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB- TradesB FutureB-
Good, not great, for the Steelers: B-.

It is a puzzling start. The Steelers had quarterback, running back and other spots to solve and reached instead for Zach Frazier, an offensive lineman, at pick 51.

They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. The Frazier pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. On the needs board they went 6 of 9, with interior defensive lineman the one that mattered most.

The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick27 Rnd1 Amarius Mims
In the 27th overall pick they get a long-term starter on the line. More want than need.
Pick51 Rnd2 Zach Frazier
They bypassed pressing needs at quarterback, running back and other spots to take Zach Frazier, an offensive lineman that was not the priority.
Pick66 Rnd3 Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in Round 3, Pick 2 is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick84 Rnd3 Renardo Green
Renardo Green at No. 84 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick98 Rnd3 Gabriel Murphy
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 3 slot with a little surplus value in Gabriel Murphy. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick119 Rnd4 Jarvis Brownlee Jr.
Good price on Jarvis Brownlee Jr. in pick No. 119, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick178 Rnd6 Jordan Jefferson
By-the-book stuff, Jordan Jefferson at the 178th pick squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick195 Rnd6 Cornelius Johnson
Cornelius Johnson in the 195th overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
