Draft Grade — Bills
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesC+ FutureB+
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Bills and Jacobs: B.

The Bills spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Curtis Jacobs, the No. 185 name on the board, in the 206th overall pick. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.

That offensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Smith pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at offensive lineman, quarterback and other spots.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but offensive lineman.

Pick Analysis
Pick28 Rnd1 Troy Franklin
In Round 1, Pick 28 they get a No. 1 receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick60 Rnd2 T'Vondre Sweat
A straight-up fair deal on T'Vondre Sweat at pick No. 60, value and slot in agreement. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick99 Rnd3 Maason Smith
They bypassed pressing needs at offensive lineman, quarterback and other spots to take Maason Smith, a DT-EDGE that was not the priority.
Pick129 Rnd4 Sione Vaki
The board had cheaper options than Sione Vaki at the 129th overall pick, and it noticed. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick159 Rnd5 Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint is a better player than the 159th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick162 Rnd5 Keith Randolph Jr.
They did well to land Keith Randolph Jr. in pick 162, just ahead of his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick202 Rnd6 Javon Baker
Javon Baker slid further than he should have, and the Round 6 slot is lovely value for the wide receiver. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick206 Rnd6 Curtis Jacobs
Curtis Jacobs at No. 206 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick246 Rnd7 Jase McClellan
They read the board right and Jase McClellan was the payoff at Round 7, Pick 26. It fills a real need, too.
