Draft Grade — Titans
Overall
D-
ValueB
NeedB
TradesF
FutureC+
The Titans lost the trade table, and the D- tells the story. Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Joshua Cephus at the 186th pick is 53 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline.
The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
Landing Jones that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. They left with offensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.
Pick Analysis
Pick7
Rnd1
Joe Alt
In pick No. 7 they get a blindside protector. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick20
Rnd1
Cooper DeJean
In slot 20 they get a lockdown presence outside at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
Pick26
Rnd1
Troy Franklin
In the Round 1 slot they get a true top target. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick38
Rnd2
Calen Bullock
Calen Bullock in Round 2, Pick 6 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick90
Rnd3
Tommy Eichenberg
A big swing on Tommy Eichenberg at the 90th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick138
Rnd5
Kamal Hadden
A straight-up fair deal on Kamal Hadden at No. 138, value and slot in agreement. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick144
Rnd5
Ty'Ron Hopper
Ty'Ron Hopper at No. 144 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The roster fit checks out.
Pick158
Rnd5
Kitan Oladapo
Kitan Oladapo at Round 5, Pick 22 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick184
Rnd6
Joe Milton III
They robbed the room for Joe Milton III here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick186
Rnd6
Joshua Cephus
This one needs a full-page explanation: Joshua Cephus in pick No. 186, miles early. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick228
Rnd7
Christian Jones
They will replay Christian Jones at slot 228 for years; that is how good the value is. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick242
Rnd7
Tatum Bethune
A conviction pick on Tatum Bethune at the 242nd pick that the board grades a round light. It fills a real need, too.
