The Thor Griffith selection is the head-turner. The 49ers reached 42 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. Everything downstream of Cam Ward depends on Cam Ward, and the building knows it.

Williams falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. Job largely done: offensive lineman settled and 8 of 8 of the wish list covered.

It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.
