Coleman should have been long gone. The Seahawks pounced, and earned a D-. The trade table was where it all came apart. The Seahawks shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through linebacker. Johnson has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
That Coleman pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The Seahawks clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, linebacker very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick24
Rnd1
Kool-Aid McKinstry
In the Round 1 slot they get a sticky cover corner. More want than need.
Pick26
Rnd1
Byron Murphy II
In pick 26 they get a load in the middle at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick56
Rnd2
Keon Coleman
Keon Coleman at the 56th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick58
Rnd2
Christian Haynes
No edge and no loss on Christian Haynes in No. 58; it is a wash and a sensible one. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick70
Rnd3
Calen Bullock
Calen Bullock in slot 70 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick78
Rnd3
Jaylen Wright
A straight-up fair deal on Jaylen Wright at the 78th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick81
Rnd3
Michael Hall Jr.
By-the-book stuff, Michael Hall Jr. at pick No. 81 squarely in line with his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick93
Rnd3
Marshawn Kneeland
Marshawn Kneeland in slot 93 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick124
Rnd4
Theo Johnson
Theo Johnson at the 124th pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick129
Rnd4
Sataoa Laumea
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Sataoa Laumea in pick 129. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick151
Rnd5
Jordan Travis
Jordan Travis in the Round 5 slot is fair value, right on his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
