FutureB-
The Giants got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the C. Nobody else had Hudson Card anywhere near No. 178. The Giants did, by 179 spots, and that gap is the whole story. A mixed bag that lands at C.
Landing Amos that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close.
That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. On the needs board they went 6 of 9, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
A perfectly average weekend, for better and for worse.
Pick Analysis
Pick2
Rnd1
Ashton Jeanty
In the Round 1 slot they get a lead back with juice. A real need, handled.
Pick34
Rnd2
Harold Fannin Jr.
By-the-book stuff, Harold Fannin Jr. at No. 34 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick50
Rnd2
Cam Ward
A quarterback of that caliber at slot 50 is the definition of value, full stop. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick102
Rnd4
Aireontae Ersery
Somehow Aireontae Ersery was still sitting there in pick No. 102, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick134
Rnd4
Wyatt Milum
Steal is underselling it; Wyatt Milum at Round 4, Pick 33 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick160
Rnd5
Xavier Restrepo
The board fumbled Xavier Restrepo all the way to pick 160, and they scooped it up. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick178
Rnd6
Hudson Card
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Hudson Card. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick218
Rnd7
Trey Amos
Trey Amos at Round 7, Pick 4 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick245
Rnd7
Devin Neal
They will replay Devin Neal at pick No. 245 for years; that is how good the value is. It fills a real need, too.
Pick256
Rnd7
Jaylin Noel
Taking Jaylin Noel in the Round 7 slot is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
