The 49ers clearly saw something nobody else did in Seth McLaughlin, taking him 94 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.

However the rest shakes out, Tuten at that price is a win they earned. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
