AlphaBoi DRAFTING FOR THEFalcons
Draft Grade — Falcons
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Falcons let Thornton Jr. fall and pounced. Final grade: B-. The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Falcons watched Dont'e Thornton Jr. slide 70 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
Leaving offensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Reaching for Jackson left real value on the table behind him.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but offensive lineman.
Pick Analysis
Pick15
Rnd1
Landon Jackson
In No. 15 they get a double-digit-sack hope, even if it was a touch early. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick46
Rnd2
Tyleik Williams
A clean, defensible pick in pick 46 with a little surplus value in Tyleik Williams. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick117
Rnd4
Tez Johnson
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Tez Johnson at Round 4, Pick 16. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick244
Rnd7
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Taking Dont'e Thornton Jr. in the 244th pick is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
