Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB- TradesB+ FutureB-
The Bears checked most of the boxes and earned a B.

Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Bears spent pick 127 on Braelon Allen, a name the board had a full 24 spots lower. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

However the rest shakes out, Jones at that price is a win they earned. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through linebacker.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Marvin Harrison Jr.
In pick 1 they get a difference-maker at receiver at fair value.
Pick26 Rnd1 Chop Robinson
In Round 1, Pick 26 they get a disruptor off the edge, though they paid up to get him. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick35 Rnd2 Kamren Kinchens
Kamren Kinchens slipping to pick No. 35 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick71 Rnd3 Cooper Beebe
No edge and no loss on Cooper Beebe in the Round 3 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick75 Rnd3 Sedrick Van Pran
Sedrick Van Pran in the 75th overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick104 Rnd4 Leonard Taylor III
The board had cheaper options than Leonard Taylor III at slot 104, and it noticed. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick110 Rnd4 Malik Washington
By-the-book stuff, Malik Washington at No. 110 squarely in line with his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick127 Rnd4 Braelon Allen
A wild overpay on Braelon Allen in the 127th pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick133 Rnd4 Jarrian Jones
A slide stopped in Round 4, Pick 33, with Jarrian Jones worth more than the price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick146 Rnd5 McCallan Castles
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on McCallan Castles. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick186 Rnd6 Ethan Driskell
Ethan Driskell at the Round 6 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It fills a real need, too.
Pick232 Rnd7 Trevor Keegan
Trevor Keegan at the 232nd overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
