Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall B
ValueA NeedA- TradesB- FutureB-
The Dolphins found their guy under center in Mendoza: B.

The board owed the Dolphins one, and it paid up: Brandon Cisse, the No. 42 name on the board, sitting there at pick 111 like a gift left on the doorstep. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

Fernando Mendoza is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.

Quarterback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Fernando Mendoza
Fair-plus on Fernando Mendoza, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick43 Rnd2 Carnell Tate
Carnell Tate in the Round 2 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick75 Rnd3 Denzel Boston
Denzel Boston in pick No. 75 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick87 Rnd3 Elijah Sarratt
Elijah Sarratt at the 87th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick90 Rnd3 Jonah Coleman
Jonah Coleman in pick 90 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick111 Rnd4 Brandon Cisse
Taking Brandon Cisse in slot 111 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick150 Rnd5 Max Iheanachor
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Max Iheanachor in the Round 5 slot. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick215 Rnd6 Trey Moore
Somehow Trey Moore was still sitting there in No. 215, and they pounced on premier edge rusher value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick227 Rnd7 Miles Kitselman
A tight end of that caliber at Round 7, Pick 11 is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
