The Commanders finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a B+.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Commanders spent their marquee pick on Drake Maye, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. A dependable weekend that grades out a B+.

Every board in the league had Nugent lower, and that gap is the story. The phones were where this weekend was really won.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up. On value alone, Turner makes the weekend a net positive.

Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.

In No. 4 they get a franchise quarterback. A real need, handled.
Pick27 Rnd1 Dallas Turner
In the 27th overall pick they get a bendy edge with upside at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick35 Rnd2 Troy Fautanu
A reasonable price with a little left over, Troy Fautanu in pick 35. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick40 Rnd2 Tyler Guyton
By-the-book stuff, Tyler Guyton at Round 2, Pick 8 squarely in line with his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick41 Rnd2 Kalen King
Kalen King at pick No. 41 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick67 Rnd3 Brandon Dorlus
They paid sticker price for Brandon Dorlus in slot 67, and that is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick88 Rnd3 Malachi Corley
A slide stopped in the Round 3 slot, with Malachi Corley worth more than the price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.

Jaden Hicks at the 101st pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.

This one needs a full-page explanation: Drake Nugent in the Round 4 slot, miles early. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.

A premium they did not need to pay, Ben Sinnott a notch or two before his time. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
