Smith should have been long gone. The Steelers pounced, and earned a B-.

Of all the ways to open, the Steelers chose the head-scratcher, spending the 51st pick on Zach Frazier with quarterback, edge rusher and other spots still wide open. The bottom line is a respectable B-.

For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. Getting Smith where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

The cost of the Frazier reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
