Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall D+
ValueB NeedB+ TradesF FutureA+
The phones sank the Jaguars this weekend: D+.

Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Jaguars spent the 88th overall pick on Emery Jones Jr., a name most had 38 spots down the list.

They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman. The Hairston steal is the beam this whole class leans on.

It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.

Pick Analysis
Pick3 Rnd1 Travis Hunter
In the 3rd overall pick they get an island corner. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick5 Rnd1 Tetairoa McMillan
In pick No. 5 they get a difference-maker at receiver at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick33 Rnd2 Jaxson Dart
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jaxson Dart. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick36 Rnd2 Jalon Walker
A tidy bit of business in slot 36, where Jalon Walker graded well above the range. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick70 Rnd3 Quinshon Judkins
A straight-up fair deal on Quinshon Judkins at the Round 3 slot, value and slot in agreement. It fills a real need, too.
Pick88 Rnd3 Emery Jones Jr.
Emery Jones Jr. at Round 3, Pick 24 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick106 Rnd4 Maxwell Hairston
They robbed the room for Maxwell Hairston here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick125 Rnd4 Savion Williams
They barely believed it either: Savion Williams still on the board at pick 125. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick143 Rnd5 Luke Kandra
They will replay Luke Kandra at slot 143 for years; that is how good the value is. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick184 Rnd6 Luke Lachey
They paid up for Luke Lachey at the 184th overall pick when waiting would have done the job. The roster fit checks out.
Pick196 Rnd6 Upton Stout
Upton Stout at the Round 6 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
