Draft Grade — Texans
Overall

The Texans robbed the room for Dart. Final grade: D. Boards are made to be trusted, and the Texans shredded theirs for Davison Igbinosun. He came off 38 spots early, and the room will hear about it. Too much went sideways, and the D is the honest tally.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. The Dart pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.
Running back was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Quinshon Judkins
In the Round 1 slot they get a centerpiece for the ground game at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick41
Rnd2
Barrett Carter
Barrett Carter in slot 41 is fair value, right on his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick42
Rnd2
Mykel Williams
No drama and no debate, Mykel Williams went about where he belonged in pick No. 42. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick56
Rnd2
Dontay Corleone
Fair-plus on Dontay Corleone, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick86
Rnd3
J.C. Davis
They paid up for J.C. Davis at slot 86 when waiting would have done the job. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick88
Rnd3
J. Michael Sturdivant
A big swing on J. Michael Sturdivant at pick 88, well ahead of any board in the building. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick92
Rnd3
Luke Lachey
Taking Luke Lachey in No. 92 is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick95
Rnd3
Davison Igbinosun
A real head-scratcher, Davison Igbinosun in Round 3, Pick 31 is miles ahead of his ranking. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick120
Rnd4
Nick Emmanwori
By-the-book stuff, Nick Emmanwori at the Round 4 slot squarely in line with his ranking. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick121
Rnd4
DJ Campbell
DJ Campbell at pick No. 121 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick155
Rnd5
Jaxson Dart
Circle this one: Jaxson Dart at the 155th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. It fills a real need, too.
Pick216
Rnd7
Gavin Bartholomew
No edge and no loss on Gavin Bartholomew in the 216th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
